Board of Trustees

School board members are locally elected public officials entrusted with governing a community's public schools. The role and responsibility of this local board of trustees is to:

  • Set the direction for the community's schools
  • Establish an efficient and effective structure for the school district
  • Provide support to the school superintendent and teaching staff as they carry out the direction of the board
  • Ensure accountability to the public
  • Act as community leaders

These 5 responsibilities represent the functions that are fundamental to a school system's accountability to the public that the trustees represent.
